Penny Dey, Broker, GRI, ABRM

Penny has worked in real estate on Nantucket for 24 years, the previous 16 years as a broker and the Vice President of a large real estate firm in town.

Penny is currently in her second year as President of the Nantucket Association of Real Estate Brokers. She has served as a Director of the Cape Cod & Islands Association of Realtors , the Nantucket Planning & Economic Development Commission as Vice-Chair, Sustainable Nantucket, the Finance Committee for the Town of Nantucket, Habitat for Humanity and as director on the board of Sherburne Commons, Nantucket's first assisted living community for seniors.  Penny recently joined the board of Housing Nantucket, a non-profit helping to house middle income islanders.   She is also a member of the National Association of Professional Women and is working on the Think Local First campaign with the Nantucket Chamber of Commerce.

Penny first came to Nantucket with her family in the summer of 1963 and her family still spends half of every summer in Quidnet.  Nantucket has been her home year round since 1977, when her summer job cooking at the Club Car was extended to Christmas that year. Penny never left and, before working in real estate, did many things for a living including scalloping.

Penny lives in town with her dog Dory. She teaches real estate courses and knitting and interests include sailing, reading, travel and platform tennis and tennis.  She is also a novice cellist and participates in the occasional local concert, usually with other beginners who tend to be under 10 years old.

She feels fortunate to call Nantucket home, and is enjoying the challenges of owning and running a business.
